Dr John Faulkner

My Background

I’m a solo GP (Genreral Practitioner), who was born in Hobart, grew up in Tasmania, living on the North West Coast until the end of Grade 3, and from Grade 4 onwards I grew up in Hobart. This continued until the end of my Science degree at the University of Tasmania, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Maths. From this point, I commenced my medical training.

My Professional History

My undergraduate medical training was done in Adelaide, at Flinders University of South Australia, graduating at the end of 1999. I worked in South Australia, until the end of 2003, before moving to Launceston , Tasmania to train in Rural General Practice. After completing my fellowship training, I moved to Hobart in 2007, working in the suburbs of Rosny and Glenorchy initially, before opening my own practice in West Hobart in 2012. I have now been providing general practice services to Hobartians from 2007, through to the present.

My Services

Based in West Hobart, I provide family gerneral practice services to the greater Hobart region. Faulkner GP is a mixed billing practice. Current fees are $60 out of pocket for standard private consultations. Under 16s and >65 are bulk billed. Health Care Card holders have a concessional rate of $50 out of pocket. MAIB and workcover services are fee for service, but are fully covered by the respective insurance schemes, so patients are not out of pocket. Legal reports and expert witness at court will incur out of pocket expenses. Commercial driver licence medical assessments are $220 (inclusive of GST). These rates are all subject to change from time to time.

Practice Manager Julie Barwick

Julie is our practice manager and also functions as your receptionist and has worked as a medical receptionist and practice manager for at least 2 decades and with our practice since its inception in 2012.
